Dorothy Christine Hoover, 96, of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away on September 9, 2026. She was born on March 27, 1930, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Dorothy graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan, and carried forward a steady devotion to learning and service throughout her life.
For many years, Dorothy worked in childcare, offering patient care and dependable guidance to those entrusted to her. She also devoted herself to teaching Sunday school for both children and adults, sharing her love of Scripture. In addition, she served as a phone counselor for Lifeline Counseling services, extending compassion and a listening ear to those in need.
A proud and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rochester, Dorothy’s life reflected enduring commitment to her church community. Her personal joys were simple and sincere: she loved Bible study, painting, crafting, reading, and traveling. Her journeys took her to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean, and she and her husband shared yearly trips to Florida for several years.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Randell Miles Hoover (Carol) and Bradley Edward Hoover (Sandra); her grandchildren, Jason, Shane, Christy, Ryan, and Alex; her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Annabelle, Alivia, Sam, Kolten, Sean, Mariah, and Aliyah; her great-great-grandchild, Amaya.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Hoover; daughter, Donna Colleen Moeller; siblings, James Everett Callaway, Margie Dell York, and Ernest Doyle Callaway; her mother, Estella Mae (Karr) Callaway; and her father, Jonathan Wilson Callaway.
Visitation will be held at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 West University Drive, Rochester, MI 48307, US, on September 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church Of Rochester, 6377 Orion Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48306, US, on September 15, 2026, at11:00 am with guest invited to arrive between 10:30 am to 11:00 am.
