Edwin Joseph Kretsch, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away Saturday May 23, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was 68. Edwin was born the son of Edwin Frank and Jane (DiMercurio) Kretsch on June 20, 1951 in Detroit. He graduated from Clawson High School in 1969. He married Nancy Makoski on January 21, 1972 at Guardian Angels Church in Clawson, Michigan. Edwin joined the U.S. Army and moved his family to Germany in 1972. Upon return from the Army, Edwin worked for Bill Fox Chevrolet, then General Motors where he was an experimental technician in the dynamometer test department. He retired from General Motors after 31 years. He most recently worked for Delphi Technologies. In his younger days he played the guitar and was in a band called The Better Way. He was a hobby plane enthusiast and was a member of the Romeo Skyhawks RC club. He built RC airplanes and taught others how to fly them. He also was a car buff and owned many sports cars over the years. Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy; daughter Tammy (Keith) Boneburg of Kalamazoo; siblings Donna (Ron) Taulby of Golden, Colorado and Jeffrey (Lisa) Kretsch of Canton, Michigan; aunt Mary Ann Ritter of Mesa, Arizona; nieces Carrie, Sara, Amber, and Christina and nephew Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a rotation of 10 people allowed at a time. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. for immediate family only. Pixley Funeral Home, 322 University Drive, Rochester. The burial processional will follow at White Chapel Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
