Elizabeth Ann Travis

TRAVIS, Elizabeth Ann, age 79, a resident of Rochester, Michigan, passed away, peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 after a long and serious illness. She is survived by Ronal, her husband of 57 years and the love of her life; her three beloved daughters Nancy McLaughlin, Pam Wise and Cindy Froehlich; her three adored son’s in law Sean McLaughlin, Bill Wise and Kurt Froehlich; and her nine cherished grandchildren Molly, Brian and Kevin McLaughlin, Brian, Abby, Emily and Bob Wise and Kelby and Kody Froehlich. She is also survived by many loving and loved nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. Elizabeth, aka Betty, Liz or Sis, is the youngest of 6 children, born to Elizabeth and Connell Himes of Springdale, Ohio on March 11, 1935. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings. She shared her passions for gardening, quilting and reading with family and friends. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her wonderful friends, neighbors and family. Elizabeth thrived in helping others through the many charities for which she volunteered. Her strong faith in God and active roles in her Church were constant throughout her life and her outlook on life. She approached every day with a smile on her face and determination in her stride. Elizabeth brightened everyone’s day and never met a stranger. She believed that with hard work and the right attitude people could accomplish anything. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Fellowship United Methodist Church, 4050 Coolidge Highway, Troy. Rev. Suzanne Walls officiating. Mrs. Travis will lie in state at the church Tuesday at 10 a.m. The family will also receive friends Monday, from 2 to 8 pm at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OPC (Older Persons Commission) in Rochester, Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
