Born on August 9, 1941, in Carolina, Puerto Rico to Teodosio and Felicita Suarez. He later moved to New York, where he worked as a sous chef at Schrafft's Restaurant as well as a superintendent and later earned his certification as a boiler engineer/ operator. In 1968, the Suarez family moved to Detroit, Michigan where he spent the remainder of his years with his beloved family.
He will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family and friends, socializing, his love of dancing, frequent trips to the movie theatre, daily walks where he loved to meet new people and his favorite vices, coffee and smoking. He befriended everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
Emilio was survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Candita; his children Candida (Edmundas J.) Kemeza of Shelby Twp., MI; Loyda Rodriguez Childers of Rochester, MI; Aixa Rodriguez (Carlos) Torres of Attleboro, MA; Juan (Lisa Bardach) Rodriguez of Ann Arbor, MI; His brother Angel Suarez of Bloomfiled, NJ; His sisters, Lucy Suarez Ellsworth of NY; Alma J. Sanchez-Velez of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico; His grandchildren Philip A. & Nicholas S. Childers, Pedro O. & Emilia N. Kemeza, and C. Gesmani Torres; His great-grandchildren, Devin R. Childers, Tatiana L. Messier-Torres, Mikela Aixa Demers, Michael Carlos Demers, Anjelina V. Torres, Gesmani A.Torres, Avery L. Childers, and Mia L. Childers. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Loyda M.Torres; Honorary daughter, Sandra M. Ortiz and granddaughter Celina Aixa Ortiz.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 10AM at St. George Chaldean Catholic Church, 45700 Dequindre Rd., Shelby Charter Twp., MI 48317. Visitation begins at 9:15AM.
