Gary William Sproat

Gary shared life with his wife, Judy, for 42 years. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter and lots of puppies. Gary and Judy fostered guide dogs and raised litters destined to change the lives of the visually impaired. Gary naturally exhibited patience and compassion with the multitude of dogs Judy and he fostered. Most evident was the strength of his heart. Gary was devoted to everyone he cared about. The breadth of his heart gave him a capacity for love that was powerful enough to withstand the eventual goodbye to the fur babies they both grew to love over and over.

Gary spent most of his career with Pilot Operations at Chrysler becoming a licensed “Master Electrician”, earning the highest score ever achieved at Pilot. He earned the reputation as the “go to” guy, backed by an approach of logic, patience, and an attention to detail that borders on legendary. If Gary fixed something, it stayed fixed. He believed there was always a right way to do things, and it often just happened to be his way. His little touch after a job was to leave instructions in case you needed a reminder of the way he did it. And more often than not, it was needed.

Gary leaves behind a life measured by countless people he helped, the things he built and fixed, and a genuine love, given to his family, friends, and four legged companions that were lucky enough to receive it.

The reassuring feeling that Gary was there and that everything would be OK will be missed by all who knew him. It’s safe to say that things are all working perfectly where Gary is. And if they weren’t, they certainly are now.

Gary is preceded in death by his daughter, Emma Lauren, and his parents, Lois and David Sproat. He was the brother of Kevin (Laura), Dan (Renee), and Olivia. He was the brother-in-law of Paul (Anne), Robbie (David), Tom (Kitty), Ken, and Pat (Sue). He enjoyed “Favorite Uncle” status to many nieces and nephews. He is sorely missed by his two four-legged family members, “Bella” and “Laney”. Both are retired Leader Dog “Moms”, each having had three litters of future leader dogs.
