Jerry or Dede, as he was affectionately known, was born to the late Floyd and Mathilda Augusta Sophia Fenner Anderson on April 6, 1941, in Fairmont, Minnesota. Jerry graduated from Fairmont Community College in 1963, where he studied mathematics and drafting. Immediately after graduating, Jerry joined the United States Navy to serve his country as a naval pilot. Jerry was a Commander in the Navy and worked as a captain with United Airlines until he retired from the Navy Reserves in 1983 and United in 2001.
Jerry met the love of his life, Michelle, while attending church in Skokie Valley, Illinois. The two were married on November 27, 1971, and spent 53 wonderful years together. Jerry was a kind and doting husband, doing anything he could to make Michelle smile.
He loved everyone and never met a stranger. He was a big jokester and loved to make you smile. Jerry loved being on the water, especially boating. He also loved to play golf, and travel. Jerry was a man of God and had a deep faith in the Lord. He was extremely involved in the First Baptist Church of Sturgeon Bay. He led bible studies and helped with summer bible camp. Above all else, Jerry greatest joy was his family, and he loved more than anything being a grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Michelle, his three daughters: Jill Anderson, Anita (Daniel) Wells, and Julie Martin, his grandchildren: Ashley, Stephanie, Victoria, Yasmine, Katherine, Chase, and London, and his great grandchildren: Jermaine Jr., Jack, Theodore, Addie, and Aurora.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Anderson.
Jerry will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family would like to invite all to attend his committal service, which will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, on Wednesday July 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
