Beloved grandfather of Sarah, Michael, Ashley, Mitchell, Emma, and Luke. Resident of Rochester Hills and former resident of Troy, Michigan.
Jerry was born on September 28, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, to Willibald and Mary Ann Dittrich, the youngest of six children. After faithfully serving his country, he went on to obtain a B.A. in Accounting from Indiana University. He began his career at the IRS and then moved on to the U.S. Department of Energy, retiring at age 52 to manage a family business.
Jerry was blessed with good health throughout most of his life. Along with the time he spent with family, he enjoyed golfing, boating, playing bridge (his passion), and billiards. He loved travelling the world, visiting Fiji, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Egypt and many other places, as well as travelling extensively throughout North America.
Jerry was also involved with religious and civic organizations and participated for many years in the Knights of Columbus, the Exchange Club, and other organizations. He was a member of St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church in Troy, Michigan, for many years.
As a family, we treasure our memories of our father and grandfather, and are thankful that he is now in the arms of our Lord in Heaven. We thank and appreciate the family and friends who added so much joy to his life and who have expressed their sympathy and support.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to the Gleaners Food Bank (gcfb.org), headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, one of the local charities that he supported for many years.
