Beloved husband of Cherry Nystrom; loving father of Charity (Chris) McCoy and Roxanne (Adam) Heinemann; caring grandfather of Madison and Colin; brother of Dennis (Susan) Nystrom, Gwen Cartier, Gary (Anne Marie) Nystrom, and Charles Nystrom; caring uncle of Lauri, Yvonne, Susan, Mike, Alisa, Eric, Cami, Don, Paul, Martin, and Becky; and his constant companion Maggie his Black Lab.
Greg was born the son of Harry and Edna (Jensen) Nystrom in Cadillac, Michigan on December 28, 1951. He graduated from Cadillac High School and Ferris State University, and then completed one year of law school at Detroit College of Law. He married Cherry Walker on March 20, 1972, and raised their family in Rochester Hills. Greg was a member of Woodside Bible Church in Troy, the Oakland County Republican Party, and was one of the youngest members to join the Jaycees.
Greg loved animals, talking politics, playing golf, watching the Detroit Red Wings, traveling and boating on Lake Mitchell and Lake St. Clair. He and Cherry enjoyed many cruises and motorcycle trips together.
Greg will be remembered for his love of family, great sense of humor, selfless ways and a huge heart.
Greg’s family will receive all for a visitation on Thursday, September 20, 2018, from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester. Greg will lie in state on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Woodside Bible Church, located at 6600 Rochester Road in Troy, Michigan.
