Greg was born to Robert and Nancy Potter on July 20, 1956, in Highland Park, Michigan, but he grew up in the Pontiac area. Greg attended Pontiac Central High School, and after graduating, enlisted in the United States Army, and served his country in Hawaii, Guam, and Australia. After his time in the Army, Greg began a career at General Motors, working there for more than 30 years.
Greg is survived by his brothers: Brian Keith Potter and Curtis Blake (Marilyn) Potter, many cousins, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very good friend, Mike Parkus.
