Gwendolyn (Rathka) Shelly was born on March 31st, 1938, and passed away on July 30th, 2026. Gwen was a lifelong resident of Avon Township/Rochester Hills, a graduate of Rochester High School (Class of 1955), and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She worked for many years at various jobs, eventually retiring as Deputy Clerk for the city of Auburn Hills. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. (Spoiling granddog Louie was a close second).
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lucy Rathka, brother Kaye, infant son John, and husband Jim. She is survived by son Todd (Lynn), daughter Cara, and grandchildren Nathan and Miranda Shelly.
At Gwen’s request, there will be no public memorial service.
