Hazel was an important member of our family. She was intelligent, witty, thoughtful and kind. She looked out for our parents and she was the only one that mom would allow to style her hair. Woody was so fortunate to find her. She was such a good person.  We will miss her.                  With love, Rose (VanTifflin) Bardel 

More than anything I remember her laugh. She had so much love to give and was a very positive woman. I am so glad I got to visit her (I live across the country in Oregon) a few years ago.

Hazel was also a master Sheepshead player.  She and I were high school friends.  After graduation, we lived together in a multi-story apartment building in Milwaukee  (1951-3).  Hazel's card club would meet in our apartment for their games.  These games got so boisterous that the people above us would stamp on the floor, while the people below us  would pound on their ceiling with a broom handle.  The four card players had a wonderful time!

I am so sorry to hear about Hazel’s passing. She was such a sweet woman. When I worked at Sunrise she and I would talk a lot. I miss those talks. I hate that life got in the way.

I am so honored to have known Hazel over the past years.  Hearing Hazel play the piano and singing with her at Sunrise always brightened my day.  She was a friend to my Mom and I will miss being with Hazel and Mom for dinners.  I so loved her spirit.
 Wishing peace to Hazel's family.  

Hazel was one in a million and I will always look back on our memories together. I learned a lot from her and will cherish all the moments we spent together as she read her writing pieces and poems to me. I already miss her. My condolences to the VanTifflin family. 

Everyone should have been blessed to have an Aunt Hazel.  She was kind, and loving, but also direct and let you know exactly what she thought.  She was the family representative at my wedding and her brother George's funeral, and it felt so right to have her there for the Luttkus family.  I can still hear her laugh. We have so many happy memories of Hazel from our couples' bridge group of many years.  Besides playing bridge once a month, we would also stay at Sage Lake at the Meyers' lake home yearly.  We shared good food, cards and friendship plus those lovely boat rides on the lake.  Hazel was always so much fun to be with.  She had story upon story about the love of her life, Woody, and her family adventures over the years.   My husband also played duplicate bridge with Hazel.  She was an outstanding bridge player with many awards to show for it.   I appreciated how Hazel encouraged me in Meadowbrook Woman's Club, one woman to another.   Our condolences go out to Hazel's daughters and family.  Hazel will be missed, but we will always remember her love for life and friendships.
