

Dr. Helen Joanne Scoblic McLeod, 85, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born on April 14, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, to Francis "Frank" and Winnifred "Winnie" (Schultz) Scoblic, Helen graduated with honors from Patrick Henry High School before earning her nursing degree from Presentation School of Nursing. She later completed a bachelor's degree in chemistry and received her medical degree from Marquette University School of Medicine in 1969. She specialized in endocrinology and diabetes, training at Henry Ford Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital before serving patients for decades at Henry Ford Hospital, Huron Memorial Hospital, and in private practice. She also served as Co-Director of the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Huron County Coroner, and later devoted many years to hospice medicine. Helen married Kenneth "Ken" McLeod in 1989, and together they shared a love of travel, antiquing, theater, and family. She will be remembered for her compassion, intellect, and lifelong dedication to her patients, family, and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth "Ken" McLeod of Rochester Hills, MI, formerly of Port Austin; her sisters, Mary Scoblic of Lansing, MI, and Pati (Mike) Koeniguer of Aberdeen, SD; her stepchildren, Melinda (Kevin) Fondaw of Rochester Hills, MI, Jason (Tonya) McLeod of Freeland, MI, her grandchildren, Alex (Kearstin) McLeod, Collyn (Brittney) McLeod, Andy Fondaw, and Camden McLeod; her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Nolan McLeod, with another great-grandson expected in August; her nephews, Jon (Elisa) Koeniguer with stepson Jaden, Matt (Claudia) Koeniguer, and many extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues, and patients whose lives were enriched by her kindness and care.
In accordance with Dr. Scoblic's wishes, no public funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will take place. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, colleagues, patients, and caregivers whose kindness and support meant so much throughout her life.
