

Hank was born on January 28, 1945, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Richard and Joann Hoogenboom. He grew up on a farm in Elkhart, where he spent his childhood working the land and growing vegetables.
His love for technology led him to study computers, and he later graduated from a Technical Computer School in Indiana. Hank’s career as a systems analyst at General Motors spanned many years, and he was known for his skill in repairing, building, and teaching computers. He found great joy in helping senior citizens at the OPC learn how to use computers.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Hank served in the United States Army and was deeply patriotic. He took great pride in his military service. Hank enjoyed playing pickleball and even competed in the Senior Olympics. He was also a devoted fan of Indiana basketball and had a special place in his heart for Corvettes.
In addition to his love of sports and technology, Hank had a deep bond with his beloved wife, Jan. Together, they traveled the country, enjoying many trips and memories, including living in Florida for several years until Hank's health declined.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Hank is survived by his wife, Jan Hoogenboom; his daughters, Kim (Brian) Kish and Kristen Medgyessy; his grandchildren, Matt and Clare; his brother-in-law, Doug (June) McGlaun; and his sister-in-law, Nancy (Bruce) Thrasher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Joann Hoogenboom, and his brother, Dennis Hoogenboom.
A Memorial Service will be held at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI 48307, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
Inurnment will follow at 2:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, where military funeral honors will be presented.
