Herman Quay-Hong Moy, of Oakland Township, Michigan, passed away on July 22, 2021 at the age of 94. He was born in Hong Kong, China to Wing Gong Moy and Hung Wan Lau on January 23, 1927. He married his wife Ivy Moy on November 24, 1969. While living in China, Herman worked as an accountant. He came to America in 1949. He then proudly became a US citizen and honorably served in the United States Army after getting drafted during the Korean War era. After military service, Herman managed his Aunt Carrie Lee’s restaurant in downtown Birmingham, MI. He and Ivy later opened Tien On, a restaurant of their own in Wayne, MI. After closing Tien On, he managed New China Restaurant in Troy, MI before his retirement. Besides enjoying a good meal, Herman’s greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Melissa (Chunlun) Chan, Brian (Mary) Moy, Christine (Bryan) DeKraker, and Cynthia (Jeffery) Sirard; grandchildren Daniel (Eun), Benson (Grace), Spencer, Evan, Mason, Owen, Marissa, and Lincoln; great grandchildren Eden, Ezra, Elsa, Preston, Emelia, and Eleanor.
He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Hoi Chow, Wai Tong, and sister Seen Ngan.
A Celebration Of Life service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in the near future.
