He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK and moved to Coventry England as an adult where he met and married Bridget Mary Davis.
They moved to Ontario Canada where their first son Martin Wilde was born. Three years later they then moved to Columbus, Ohio where their second son Steven Wilde was born.
Syd worked for General Motors Tech Center as senior Engineer. He was president of the American Association of Body Engineers and later became president of the Fisher Body Tech Center Retirees club.
He loved his family and gardening cultivating the most delicious tomatoes.
