

MASKILL, Donald James, Sr., age 84, of Rochester, passed away June 18, 2010. He was born September 4, 1925, in Detroit to the late William and Olive (Steinmetz) Maskill. Don was educated at St. Martin’s on the Lake in Detroit, Assumption High School in Windsor, Ontario, and Michigan State University. He bravely fought with the 5th Marine Division in Pacific Theatre during World War II and witnessed the raising of the United States flag on Iwo Jima. He was married to the love of his life, Margaret June Turley for 61 years. He is survived by his brothers William and Gerald Maskill and his sister Margaret Corbett Chariot. Father of Dawn (Jay) Helman, Denis (Tracy) Maskill, Debra (Martin) Cohn, Dale (JoAnn) Maskill, Mark Maskill, Marianne (the late Dennis) Wetoszke, Donald (Carol) Maskill, Jr., Tammy (Kurt) Foote, Marty Maskill and Lisa (Kyle) Smalley. Also survived by thirty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Liturgy 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood @ Northwood St. in Rochester. Visitation Tuesday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 W. University Drive in Rochester with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Rochester.
