He was born in Bay City, Michigan, in 1940. He married Janet Kay Miner in June 1968, and she preceded him in death in February 2024.
Jim worked in sales in the trucking industry until his retirement. He had a passion for the outdoors and for hunting, and he was always ready to help anyone who needed it. He always had the perfect two cents to add to a conversation, often a joke that wasn’t always in the best taste but was always appreciated. He was never too busy for a pint, an ice cream, or a visit with friends and family.
Jim is survived by his children, Scott Miner, Erin Miner, and Heidi Miner; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Nick) Corbeil, Meghan (Vinny) Kirk, Kyle Kirk, Jamie (Ed) Shoenig, Emily Miner, Maddie Miner, and Nolan Miner; and his great-grandchildren, EJ Shoenig and Theo Shoenig.
Services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan. Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. Please join us afterward at Rochester Mills Brewery for snacks and a drink to toast Jim and share your stories of him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail at https://paintcreektrail.org/friends-of-the-trail.
