He was born on October 26, 1942. James graduated from Palatine High School and received his B.A. from Alma College. He married Arlene L. on December 15, 1990. Jim enjoyed hiking, birds, sports, and doing puzzles.
He is survived by his loving wife Arlene; his children Catherine Bicknell (Chris), Steven Plate (Michelle Singer-Plate), and Jaclyn Swanson (Bernard); his grandchildren, Lucas Bicknell, Noah Bicknell, Natalie Plate, Levi Plate, Mckenzie Swanson, Ella Swanson, and Ava Swanson; his brother Lee Plate (Shannon), and sister Suzanne Manczuk (Joe).
