

Born to Gordon and Beth Carson in July 1945 in Portsmouth, Ohio, Jeanne and her family, including brother Richard and sisters Emily and Alice, moved to Upper Arlington, Ohio in July 1953, where Gordon was Dean of the Department of Engineering and, later, Vice President of Finance, at The Ohio State University. A life-long golfer, Jeanne grew up an avid participant in athletic endeavors ranging from ice skating to football, and she played multiple interscholastic sports including track, tennis, field hockey, softball, and basketball in both high school and college. After graduating from Upper Arlington High School, she went on to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she met her husband to be, Michael J. Gable, of Lakewood, Ohio, in the spring of 1964. After a year pursuing a master’s degree in Psychology at the University of California at Northridge, Jeanne married Michael in December 1969 at Trinity United Methodist Church in the Village of Marble Cliff, Ohio; and they settled again in U.A. They raised two sons there, Jason and Matthew, before moving to Rochester Hills, Michigan in late 1994.
Always very active in her church and her community, Jeanne served on the boards of Wesley Glen and Creative Living in Columbus and was recognized as Northwest Woman of the Year by the Upper Arlington Rotary Club. She continued her volunteer activities in Michigan, serving Crittendon Hospital and Mercy Hospice among others. Jeanne also served in multiple leadership roles at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester, including Stephen Ministry. She founded and taught a parenting class for young mothers at St. Paul’s named HUGS (Humor, Understanding, Growth and Sharing).
Jason is an architect living with his family (wife, Tonya; daughter Payton) in Raleigh, North Carolina. Matt is a corporate banker residing with his family (wife, Kim; step-daughter Kiana, and daughters Makenzie, Avery, and Regan) in Wilmette, Illinois.

Visitation will be Friday, February 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 West University Drive, Rochester, MI 48307. A Service of Joy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Street, Rochester, MI 48307.
