

Jeanne was born in Petersburg, Monroe County, Michigan, to Albin Frederick Hoffman and Gladys Mae (Elder) Hoffman. She was raised in Michigan by her loving family and graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1949.
Jeanne was the high school sweetheart and beloved wife of the late Arthur Jennings Phillips Jr. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, friendship, and countless memories.
Jeanne was a lifelong resident of Oakland Township and dedicated much of her life to serving her community. She served as secretary to the principal at Reuther Jr. High School for 14 years and was a poll worker volunteer at Hugger Elementary for more than 14 years. She was a lifetime member and founding member of the Oakland Township Historical Society since 1974. She also served as a Flummerfelt Barn Raiser and as a commissioner for the Oakland Township Historic District Commission.
Jeanne was a volunteer and donor to Leader Dogs for the Blind and volunteered her time with many organizations and causes. She was an OPC member, where she took many classes and participated in yoga. She enjoyed going to family reunions and researching genealogy and family history.
An avid outdoorswoman, Jeanne enjoyed canoeing the Au Sable, Rifle, Betsie, Pine, and Pere Marquette Rivers. She was also involved with Girl Scouts and walked many miles collecting for Muscular Dystrophy for years. She was a floatable/boatable participant and always enjoyed staying active.
Jeanne was a unique, thoughtful, special, and talented artist. She was enthusiastic about life and cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Jennings Phillips Jr., and her daughter, Amy Michele Flanders. She is survived by her son, David Arthur Phillips; granddaughter Abigail Barbara Phillips (Sles); and is also survived by many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving sister, Janice Lou (Hoffman) Keller Howells.
A memorial service for Jeanne will be held on September 19, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Cranberry Lake Farm in the Flumerfelt Barn, located at 388 West Predmore Road, Oakland, MI 48363. A luncheon will follow the service at 12:15 PM at Lakeville Station, located at 600 Lakeville Road, Leonard, MI 48367
Her final resting place will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery, 4701 North Rochester Road, where she will be laid to rest just behind the mausoleum on the right side, next to her beloved husband, Arthur.
