He was born, July 21, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1966. Jerry served in the United States Army in Germany and Vietnam in achieving the rank of Sergeant. After Vietnam he taught hand to hand combat as a drill instructor at Fort Knox. He worked as a journeyman pipefitter/welder for Detroit Edison, retiring after 32 years of service. He loved to work in his garden and mentor youth through AA.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Eila Fern O’Toole of Rochester Hills; siblings Jacqueline (George) Seymour of Rochester Hills, Ron (Shelia) O’Toole of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Alice (Al) Meyer of Cayce, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Don O’Toole; sister, Linda Onesian; niece, Ruth Meyer; and nephew, Joseph Tighe.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 23 at 2pm, funeral service at 4pm, at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester MI. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
