Jessie Veronica Case
July 28, 1929 – February 19, 2021
Jessie Veronica (McEachin) McCann Case died February 19, 2021, at home in, Lewiston, Michigan. She was born to Hubert (McEachin) McCann and Florence Clark McCann on July 28, 1929 on Crooks Road in Auburn Heights, Michigan.
Jessie met the love of her life, Thomas Vern Case, when she was 16 and they married in 1946. In their 73 years of marriage they had 5 children, namely Cheryl Joan Parker, Elaine Ann McDougald, Marcia K. Case Bolser, Michael Vern Case and Patrick Thomas Case.
Jessie worked for many years as Secretary at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Rochester, Michigan. She went on to be the first in her family, to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from college. She then worked for General Motors Corporation in Public Relations, and retired as an Executive Secretary to Dr. Betsy Ancker- Johnson, Vice President of Environmental Activities (the first female Vice President at GM). Tom and Jessie lived almost their entire lives in the Rochester area but they spent 20 years enjoying their cottages and boating on Tee Lake and then East Twin Lake in Lewiston Michigan where they were members of the Lions and Lioness clubs and enjoyed playing golf in the local golf leagues. They also spent 30 years in their winter home in Bradenton Florida where many of their Rochester friends also wintered. They made lifelong friends while wintering on 39th Ave West in Bradenton and enjoyed entertaining their friends for holidays and weekly happy hour gatherings.
But some of the most rewarding times in her life was spending time with her family who gathered yearly for a week long family celebration which she named “Family Week”, a tradition which spans over 50 years and included her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families, some of which traveled from as far as Nevada, Massachusetts, Indiana and Minnesota, and numbered as many as 62 (2019).
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Tom Case, son Pat Case, her parents Hubert and Florence McCann, and sisters, Wanda McCann Hammond, Ola McCann Carlton and Maxine Case Godin Boehmer. Jessie is survived by her sister-in-law, Giena Case Beard, her children, Cheryl Parker, Elaine McDougald, Marcia Bolser (Dell) and Mike Case (Barb), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephew and their families.
