Joan Marie Allen of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Naples, Florida, died July 28, 2021 after a long illness. She was 75. She was born Joan Marie Casey on July 3, 1946 to Thomas and Dorothy Casey of Detroit. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic Grade School, Marion High School, Warren High School and Northern Michigan University. She was married to her husband, Jim, on September 6, 1968 and they were happily married for more than 50 years.
Joan loved life. She loved to travel. She hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, cruised Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean, had a hole in one, and enjoyed playing cards. Her most valued possessions were her family and the many friendships she made throughout her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her sister, Maureen of Portage, Michigan; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Janice) Allen of Shelby Township; her nieces, Pamela (Jason) Webster of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Katie (Patrick) Todd of Vernon Hills, Illinois. Beloved to her were her great-nieces and great-nephews, Anna Todd, Trevor Todd, Brooklyn Webster, Jenna Webster, and Evan Webster. A mass is planned for Joan at St. Irenaeus Church, 771 Old Perch Rd, Rochester Hills, Michigan, on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the charity of your choice.
