GLASER, John A. "Jack", age 85, of Rochester, passed away August 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. Jack was born on December 10, 1932 in Detroit, son of the late Anthony John "A.J." and Ellen Mary "Ella" Glaser. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Muriel Elaine (Cutting), whom he married on August 24, 1957. They had met as children playing "kick the can" in their mutual alley. Jack is also survived by children Mary Beth (Brian) LaChance, Ann Marie Glaser (Jack Sena), Thomas John (Greg) Leder - Glaser, and Joseph Anthony (Mary) Bogrette - Glaser; grandchildren Katie, Elizabeth, Lauren, Ellen, Elliot, Emily, and Viola; great-grandsons Carter, Jack, and Brooks; brother Bill Glaser, Sr. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Glaser. Jack earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from University of Detroit, and earned his Law degree from Detroit College of Law. He joined Ford Motor Company in 1960 as part of the Ford College Graduate Program and was the youngest Industrial Relations Manager from FCGP in Ford Motor History. Jack negotiated plant openings in Mexico, Poland, Sterling Heights and Chesterfield Twp. as HR Manager. He served in Labor and Industrial Relations, turning down numerous advancement opportunities overseas in order to raise his family in Rochester. He was honored to have led the integration of the Industrial Relations Department at Ford Motor. Jack served as Industrial Relations Manager until his retirement in 1996. Prior to his career at Ford, Jack served as a teacher and coach at St. Theresa, Visitation, and St. Alphonsus High Schools. Jack & Muriel's loyalty to the City of Detroit led them to weekly visits to Mario's of Detroit. In retirement, he and Muriel returned to Detroit to attend St. Aloysius in caring for the homeless. They enjoyed traveling, especially to tropical climates like Florida and the Caribbean, with Aruba being their all time favorite. Jack most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when everyone could be together. His most memorable quotes were "You always feel worse in the morning" and "Do your best." He will be greatly missed. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 11 am to 2 pm at Great Oaks Country Club, 777 Great Oaks Blvd in Rochester Hills.
