JOHN PAPPAS, age 90, of Troy, died Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was born on February 12, 1930 in Detroit son of the late Anthony and Lena Pappas. John graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit and attended Wayne State University. He began his career with General Motors in 1950 and eventually became the Die Engineering Manager at the G.M. Tech Center until his retirement in 1986. John had a great passion for baseball, and played in the Federation Baseball League in Detroit. He also was an avid golfer and loved to spend time in Traverse City. John was married to the love of his life, Mary Jane Pappas for 54 years until her passing in 2008. He is survived by his daughter Anne. In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Sophie Stamas. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020, at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 2675 John R., Rochester Hills. Fr. Stanley Ulman will officiate. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.
