Kathy was born to Emil and Margery (Ellis) Gornick on May 5, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from East Detroit High School where she met many beloved lifelong friends. Kathy raised her two children in Detroit and was a long time member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Her working years included many different jobs including driving a school bus and being a medical biller. Kathy had a passion for her faith in Jesus Christ and was proud to serve others as a Stephen Minister in her church. Her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed the adventure of road trips. The cottage at Houghton Lake was always a favorite destination.
Kathy is survived by her children who she loved immensely, Lynette (Bobby) Novack, Lee (Stacy) Visbara; her adored grandchildren to whom she was "Grandma Joy", Adam (Katie) Novack, Kyle Novack, Michael (Natalie) Visbara, Justin (Mikayla) Novack, and Mitchell Visbara; her precious great-grandchildren Novy Wray Novack and Elle Kathryn Novack; her cherished siblings Bob (Patti) Gornick and Peg Ruggero; as well as numerous dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Rich Ruggero.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 11am (instate 10am) at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, Michigan. Burial will be private at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East at a later date.
