Kimberly Ann Wetzel-Smith of Rochester passed away peacefully into God’s hands on April 24, 2023 at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer. Kimberly was born November 25, 1960 in Detroit to the late Shirley Wetzel.
Kimberly is survived by her daughters, Elise Churchill (Michael) and Hannah Ulrich (Zachary); grandchildren, William Churchill, Lillian Churchill, Levi Ulrich, Abigail Churchill, Ezekiel Ulrich, Benjamin Churchill, and Samuel Ulrich; sisters Victoria Eicher (Douglas) and Kristine Wetzel; brothers Bruce Wetzel and Scott Wetzel (Amy); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
After graduating from Kimball High School in 1978, she worked at Beaumont Hospital, Troy for 37 years and Oakland Hills Country Club for 19 years. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rochester, MI.
She was a mother and grandmother first and foremost. She loved spending time with her family, friends and enjoyed traveling to Boyne City, MI and Europe. She loved baking with her grandchildren, taking them to the parks and reading books to them.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 30th, 2023 from 4 p.m until 8 p.m at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Kimberly’s life on Monday May 1st, 2023 at 11 a.m. (10 a.m. instate) at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 West University Drive, in Rochester. Interment will be private at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan at a later date.
