The Kyle I knew best was the Kyle of middle school and high school. It makes me really sad that I didn't get to know the adult version of him, but I feel so lucky to have known him during those teenage years.

Kyle was the kind of guy who was every girl's best friend, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who had a crush on him at some point. He was just one of those people who made you feel seen. He was gentle and strong at the same time. He listened, really listened, and gave the absolute best hugs. He was a romantic and wasn't afraid to show it. I always loved that about him.

It's funny what you remember about people from so long ago. I can still smell the cologne Kyle wore in 8th grade. I can't hear a Blink-182 song without thinking of him. And when I think back to middle school and high school, he's just such a big part of those memories.

Like so many friendships from those years, we lost touch as we got older. But every once in a while we'd reconnect on Instagram or social media, and it always felt like we were right back in middle school. There was something so familiar and comforting about that.

I've been thinking a lot about Kyle since hearing the news, and about how some people stay with you even when life takes you in different directions. I wish I'd had the chance to know him as an adult. But I will always remember the sweet, funny, gentle, romantic teenager who made so many of us feel special just by being himself.

My heart goes out to everyone who loved him, especially those who were lucky enough to know him through all the years I missed.

And Kyle, I don't think I'll ever hear Blink-182 without thinking of you.

These are two photos from my back yard wedding party in Sept 2024 where Kyle was just having a good time with our friends. You will be very missed by all of us. When Neil and I first moved into our new house, Kyle painted my living room wall forest green. When everything was finished, he didn’t even want me to pay him. I still did even tho it was significantly less than what it should have been. Kyle was just extremely generous like that. I’ve been looking at my living room wall differently since learning of his passing. I feel really lucky to have something that he was a part of.

Kyle was 1 in a million, such an amazing person to work with. So many regulars he left behind when he left Maggianos. They all missed him. He is someone we could never replace, his charm and personality were top tier. RIP brother. Gone way too soon. Until we meet again.
