You died while I was sleeping;
Sorry, I just needed to rest.
I sat by your bedside
Three days in a row at best.
I needed some dark hours
So I could keep on
Holding your hand.
But, you died while I was sleeping.
I guess I wasn't allowed to see you go.
But my heart will always know,
The better world in which you'll rise.
But, I still miss the nights I dried
The tears from your eyes.
I just regret my whole meaning
Because I wasn't able to say
"Goodbye,"
But, you died while I was sleeping.
The blackness of my guilty feeling
Will always from my heart be weeping,
Because you died while I was sleeping.
