Lois was the best, and was a family friend since 1964, being our neighbor just across the street. She was a great mother to Fred, Ted and Janet. I will always remember her making a big deal of water skiing when she turned 39. “Oooh, oooh, don’t go so fast!” She also loved sitting on the dock watching the freighters go by. My parents Bob and Dorothy, now deceased, thought much of Lois too. You will be missed.

Thank you our mother,Lois Jane Mitchell Cromie for enriching our lives with joy, kindness, teacher and unconditional love for your family. You will be with us everyday the rest of our lives. Always in our hearts forever ❤️..........

She was a beautiful person inside and out. Loved visiting her and the rest of the family on the Fourth of July for the annual celebration. She will be sincerely missed. My heart is breaking so I can only imagine how you feel. Please know we are thinking of you and sending love and prayers your way. She will be forever in my heart! Love to all of you!💕

From my early childhood on, Aunt Lois was always a cheerful and warm presence. Whenever we visited, she enthusiastically and graciously welcomed us into her home. When we couldn't see each other, she sent cards for holidays with loving notes.
We are all blessed to have had her with us for son long.
Love to her family ---

I was always so happy to be greeted by Lois when I came over to the South Channel. The conversations were lively and intelligent with wide ranging topics and she was always interested in the current state of affairs. I will lovingly remember her as a strong advocate for women. She was a role model in her kindness, independence and walking treks to San Souci.
We loved her like we love our own family and she will be dearly missed.

So sorry for your loss. I always looked forward to seeing her on Girls Weekend. Lois and I shared a love of reading, and I enjoyed discussing the latest book with her. Cocktail hour won't be the same.

Janet and family, may your mother rest in peace. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

May you rest in peace Lois... Your daughter is a blessing to our Adams HS family!

Lovely, kind independent woman! Beautiful blue eyes. Enjoyed the many conversations over the years on the island. She loved her ice cream!

I knew Lois from spending time on Harsen's Island with our friends Chris and Kathy Travis. Please know that Steve and I are sending thoughts and prayers your way during this difficult time. God Bless

I remember waking up early and sitting on the porch. The sun coming up over the River. Looking up and seeing Lois walking back from San Souci with the newpaper in her hand. Then reading the paper at the end of the dock.

The end of the dock, a peaceful place for her exercises. We will miss her.

I have many happy memories of times with Aunt Lois.  She was a part of my life for 66 years, more so in the last 25 or so.  She held our large family Christmas gatherings for many, many years. In later years, it was great fun to spend New Years Eve at the festivities in Birmingham with the three sisters. They loved being together and I was so fortunate to share those times with them. Eventually, it was just the two of us left to celebrate New Years Eve and having lunch with Jim and Kathy became part of our annual tradition.  We were lucky to have had lunch together again in December.

She was great fun and we walked and walked during our visits, even on the coldest days.  She'd put on her long down coat and off we'd go on a jaunt through Birmingham.  One Christmas there was a live nativity at one of the churches and it was such a cold night but lovely, followed by hot cider in the church.  It was a time we both fondly remembered.

We walked and walked and walked, observing the changes in Birmingham over the years. She introduced me to Stroh's Moose Tracks ice cream, Trader Joe's, Downton Abbey and Sudoku.  We nearly froze waiting for the polar bears to get up and move at the zoo one winter day.  We played cards, worked on puzzles, looked at old family papers and photos and reminisced.

More than 20 years ago, she and I hiked in the woods beyond the park in downtown Rochester, Dinosaur Hill.  That spring day, the trillium were in bloom, it seemed like thousands of flowers - breathtaking!!  Years later she bought a large photograph of a similar scene and during my last visit in late January, she talked about that long ago walk we took.  It was touching that she still remembered that beautiful sight and am so happy that she held on to that memory.

She loved her family very much and all of you were devoted to her. That is so special!!   She was truly blessed and she knew that.

We are so very sorry for the loss of your dear Mother, Mother In Law, Grandmother she was so very nice. I loved talking with her at the cottage. Please know we are thinking of you all during this very heartbreaking time.

My family is so sorry to hear of the passing of Lois. She was such a lovely lady. I will miss seeing her daily walks to Sans Souci for her newspaper and her neighborly chats. She was a great neighbor.
