Lois Timm, 91, went home to be with her Lord on February 28, 2019, several weeks after sustaining injuries in an auto accident. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene (Gene), and her sister Lorraine Rosenberg. She is survived by her children, David (Donna) Timm, Jeannine (Keith) Moreland, and Mary Beth Timm; her grandchildren, Andrea Moreland, Michael Moreland, Evan Timm and Jenna Timm; and her sister, Marian (Rev. John) Kuntz.
Lois was born on November 14, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Martha (Oetjen) and William Jens. She graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Wisconsin where she met her husband, Gene, on the tennis court. Their marriage on June 23, 1951, was the beginning of 58 loving years together.
Lois was an active, vibrant woman who never let age get in the way of doing the things she loved. Each week would find her playing in bridge groups, participating in book clubs, attending exercise classes, going to educational seminars and keeping up with current events. She was actively involved in her church and had been volunteering at Ascension Providence Hospital (formerly Crittenton Hospital) for the past 33 years. It was hard to find an open spot on her calendar! Lois loved to cook and entertain and was happiest when sharing these passions with her friends and family. She appreciated the beauty and peacefulness of nature and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on a lake near Gaylord, Michigan. She passed her love of gardening and art on to her children.
Lois’s family was her pride and joy. She cherished time spent together playing a game of bocce, watching a sunset over the lake or enjoying a quiet moment over a cup of coffee. She especially treasured the times when her grandchildren could come to visit.
Lois will be remembered for her love of the Lord and her incredible spirit of generosity. She lived her life as an opportunity to share Jesus’s love with others. She readily gave of her time, her love and her resources, whether that meant providing a meal to someone in the neighborhood, listening when someone needed a caring and non-judgmental ear, spending countless hours volunteering, or providing support to organizations in whose causes she believed.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive, Rochester, MI 48307 or Casa Colibri (a not-for-profit organization providing humanitarian aid in Guatemala) 1251 Washington Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48306.
As a family we treasure our memories of our mother and grandmother and rejoice that she is now in the arms of our Lord in heaven. We thank the many, many friends who have added so much joy throughout her life and have expressed their care and support during these past weeks.
