Lou met his wife JoAnne while attending Royal Oak High School where they graduated in 1953 and married in 1955. He graduated from Lawrence Technological University, and was employed by Consumers Power for 30 years before retiring in 1991.
Affectionately known as Papa by is grandchildren and most everyone. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends especially during holidays, birthdays, his well-attended fish fry picnics, and any other reason he could get everyone together. His door was always open to friends that often became part of his family. He was famous for taking unsuspecting passengers on his “mystery trips” to a variety of locations.
He was known for enjoying his friendships and being a good friend as well. Lou and JoAnne lived in their Royal Oak home for 56 years and spent 23 winters in their condo in Naples where they lived full-time the past 7 years. Always willing to help his neighbor with anything, he was loved by all. He regularly played bocce ball every morning in Naples and was a team member of a championship bocce ball team.
He loved to spend time with family fishing and hunting. He kept busy after retirement with baking, woodworking, and fly-tying.
Lou truly embodied the adage of a life well-lived. His legacy of love of family and friends, tremendous work ethic, generosity of his time to help others, and enjoyment of the outdoors will live on forever in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and everyone else that knew him.
