M. Alan Lamphier, age 90, of Rochester Hills, passed away Sunday February 21, 2021. Beloved husband of Dolores Lamphier for over 63 years. Loving father of Mark (Pat) Lamphier, Dianne (Paul) Shepich, Gary (Mindy) Lamphier, Darin (Ann Marie) Lamphier, and Amy (Gregg) Murphy. Cherished grandfather of Brent (Shyanne) Lamphier, Courtney (Chad) Moscovic, Cameryn Shepich, Connor (Emiley) Lamphier, Madison (Travis) Jones, Sydney Lamphier, Kayleigh Dinofrio, Carolyn (Case) Katchka, Logan Lamphier, Austin Lamphier, Wyatt Lamphier, Sierra Lamphier, Brody Murphy, and McKenna Murphy. Great-grandfather of Evie, Ollie, Wes, Macy, Jaxson, Gavin, Sloane, and Stella. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Alan was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Louise (Grabman) Lamphier; and siblings Howard, Ward, and Lois Lamphier.

Alan was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 13th, 1930 and graduated from Rochester High School, class of 1948. He went on to Western Michigan University and was drafted into the Korean War, serving as a second Lieutenant. Alan married Dolores Paval on March 2nd, 1957 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester. Alan worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 58. He and Dolores raised their family in Rochester Hills. Alan was a member of the Elks, Masons, and Eagles. Alan was an avid deer hunter up into his late 80’s. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, golf, playing euchre, and dancing the night away with Dolores and friends at the Eagles club. Alan’s love for everyone and his famous rhubarb custard pie will forever be remembered.

Alan’s family welcomes all to a visitation on Thursday February 25, 2021 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester. Alan will lie in state on Friday February 26th at 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 620 Romeo Rd, in Rochester. Interment will be private at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
