Madeline Anna Ryan, age 99, of Rochester Hills, passed away December 12, 2022. Born on September 23, 1923 in Detroit, to Julius & Mary (nee Soutaer) Mares, Madeline was married to Gordon Emerson Ryan who preceded her in death in 2016. She is survived by her children Douglas Gordon Ryan, Kathleen Joan Dow, and Nancy Susan Brem. Also surviving are her grandchildren Matthew Ryan, Laura Dow, Charles Dow, Kevin Brem and Madeline Waddell, as well as 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband Gordon, she was preceded in death by her grandson Eric Brem, a brother Richard and her sisters Elizabeth and Maria Julia. She and her husband were long-time members of St. Veronica in East Detroit. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and loved playing her favorite card games of pinochle and solitaire. Madeline was also a dedicated homemaker who loved spending time with her family. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, 11 am at White Chapel Cemetery, Chapel of the Flowers in Troy. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 am. Interment to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
