Marie Lucille Martin

Marie Lucille Martin, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Texas. Marie was born on March 14, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. She spent most of her childhood living in the Detroit area and was a former resident of Rochester as well as Traverse City, Michigan. Marie graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and had a successful career as an elementary school teacher. Later in life, she became a master gardener and worked at Bordines Nursery. She was a member of The Garden Club and Questors. Marie made her church home at The Congregational Church in Rochester. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nina Saylor. She is survived by her children, Nancy Ytterberg, Christi Forsberg and Bob Martin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Shryock; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester.
