Marilyn was born to Robert and Ethel McTrusty on May 7th, 1936, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Marilyn attended Rufus King High School, and then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, with her bachelors degree in elementary education. Marilyn went to work as an elementary teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio for four years, and once she had her children, she took care of the home. There was nothing Marilyn loved more than being a mother, and eventually a grandmother and great grandmother.
Marilyn met the love of her life, Waldemar "Wally" Semrau, on June 25, 1952, while they were both working at the YWCA camp in Wisconsin. Immediately the two knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, and were engaged on June 25, 1955, and married on June 25, 1958. The two spent 67 wonderful years married, and were together for a total of 73 years. The two truly felt that they had won in life and love. They traveled every chance they got, and went on 43 cruises. The two were apart of The Nomad A. Travel Club for 15 years, and went on 61 trips with them. Wally was honored to be able to take care of his wife, and blessed that the two of them could do so much together. Marilyn also loved to garden, and had an amazing doll collection that grew over the years.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Wally Semrau, their sons: Geoffrey (Cindy) Semrau, and Gregory (Carol) Semrau, grandchildren: Matthew Semrau, Alycia Longpre, Joseph Semrau, Daniel Semrau, Jennifer Semrau, Devin Semrau, Peter Semrau, and Brian Semrau. She is also survived by her great grandson, Eli Semrau.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her granddaughter Katrina Semrau, and her brother Dr. Robert L. McTrusty III.
