Marjorie was born in Detroit, Michigan, but raised and educated in England. She knew her beloved husband, the late James Ralph Clements, since birth— sharing the first four years together living next to each other creating a lifelong bond. Marjorie survived the London Blitz during World War II, and becoming engaged to James while he served in Germany in the Army Air Force at the end of war. She would leave her parents and brother, Robert, in England to cross the Atlantic alone on the Queen Mary, bringing her wedding dress with her to marry James.
Marjorie and James built a wonderful life together filled with love, faith, and adventure with a marriage that lasted for 70 years. They shared a passion for traveling, model railroading, their beloved pinochle group, and most of all, cherished time spent with their family and grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Marjorie had a lifelong love of puzzles, crosswords, and she rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.
Marjorie was a devoted member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, where she faithfully served on the Altar Guild for many years. Her kindness, grace, and steadfast spirit touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving children, Phyllis Clements, James (Vicki) Clements, Janis Clements Soloway and Richard Shepherd; grandchildren Michelle, Lyndsey, Megan, David, Laural, and Leah; and great-grandchildren Carson, Caiden, Liam, Lucy, Evelyn, Magnolia, Henry, and Juniper.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; daughter, Lois Shepherd; grandson, James Shepherd; and daughter-in-law, Debora Clements.
Visitation for Marjorie will begin December 6th, at 9:30 am with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 AM at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Rochester. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. A luncheon to follow the service in the Great Hall .
