Mary Evelyn Peck (Bellamy, Norton, Genna), age 92, of Royal Oak, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026. Mary Evelyn Peck was born on January 12, 1934, in Hackleburg, Alabama, to John and Mildred Peck. Raised on a farm, Mary was the middle of three sisters, along with Norris and Ease, who affectionately called her “Em.”
Mary married Alvin “Pres” Bellamy, and together they moved to Detroit, Michigan, settling in the Moross-Morang neighborhood, where they raised their three sons, Keith, Tim, and Barry. Like many devoted mothers of her generation, Mary’s life centered around her family, her faith, and her church, Maranatha Baptist. She especially treasured trips to Alabama and Tennessee to visit family and maintain the close ties to her Southern roots.
In 1976, Mary married Dr. Charles Norton and moved to Royal Oak, Michigan. Sadly, Charles passed away just two years later. In 1991, Mary found love again when she married Anthony “Nino” Genna. During their 26 years of marriage, Mary and Nino shared a wonderful life filled with family, friendship, and cherished memories.
Mary was a loving mother to Keith and Sue, Tim and Amy, and Barry and Laura. She was also a proud and devoted grandmother, affectionately known as “Oma” or “Omoo,” to Adam, Megan, Jacob, Hannah, Austin, Dalton, and Nathan. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she loved them all dearly.
Mary was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. Her warmth, kindness, and loving spirit naturally drew people to her. She had a way of making others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her gentle nature, beautiful smile, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends, there is comfort in knowing that she is now reunited in Heaven with the loved ones who went before her.
Her beauty was more than what the eye could see. It was reflected in the love she gave, the kindness she shared, and the lives she touched. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
