

She was born in Luke, Maryland on June 12, 1933 to Martha Washington Fortney and Alton Ree Fortney, Sr. Mary Lou is survived by her three sons, Al (Bonnie) Fisk, Rob (Linda) Fisk, Fred (Patti) Fisk, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, a sister, Martha “Bunny” Marshall, and a brother, Alton Ree “Sonny” (Joyce) Fortney, Jr.
Mary Lou received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and her Master’s degree from Michigan State University. She was retired from Rochester Community Schools after many years of employment as a Home Economics teacher.
Mary Lou was a resident of Rochester MI for over 50 years, a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Heart of the Hills Christian Church, Rochester Tuesday Musicale, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Edinburg TX and lived during the winters in Pharr TX.
Mary Lou will be laid to rest at the Mt. Avon Cemetery beside her late husband, Howland William Fisk. Visitation will be at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W University in Rochester MI from 3 to 8 pm, on Friday, November 17th and the funeral service will be at Pixley Funeral Home on Saturday, November 18th, at 2:30 pm.
