Michael Anthony Latouf

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on October 20, 1961, Michael was the son of the late Edward and Rose Latouf. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished brother, loyal friend, and soon-to-be Gidoo to his first grandchild, Charlotte.

Michael married his best friend and the love of his life, Leslie, and they shared almost 34 wonderful years together. Their marriage was built on love, friendship, laughter, and family. Together, they raised three daughters whom Michael adored: Jessica Sitko (Michael), Meghan Clark (Jake), and Hannah Latouf. He was eagerly looking forward to becoming a Gidoo to baby Charlotte, who is due to arrive this month to Jessica and Michael.

Michael was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his brothers Joseph (Katie) Latouf and Brian (Deanna) Latouf. Michael came from a very large and loving extended family, including his beloved Latouf, Sadi, and Akouri cousins, who surrounded Michael and his family with tremendous love, support, and friendship throughout his life and especially during his final days. A very special thank you goes to Michael’s sister-in-law, Laurie, who was by Leslie’s side throughout this difficult journey.

Michael was a graduate of the University of Windsor, where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering and a Bachelor of Computer Science. His career in technology spanned nearly 40 years and included Cypher Systems, EDS, Netscape, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, OKTA, where he spent nearly 10 years, and most recently, the startup ngrok. Throughout his career, Michael made lasting friendships at every step along the way. These friendships became an important part of his life and continued well beyond the workplace.

Michael had an incredible passion for running. Over the years, he participated in countless 5Ks, half marathons, and full marathons. Running was a source of challenge, accomplishment, and joy for him. One of his proudest achievements was completing the Boston Marathon shortly before his diagnosis.

Michael and his family shared a love of travel and adventure, creating countless memories around the world. Their travels included swimming in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, exploring throughout Europe, and enjoying many, many trips to Hawaii and Disney. These adventures were a special part of Michael’s life and provided memories that his family will cherish forever.

He was endlessly curious and had a genuine love of technology and science fiction. He had a great sense of humor and a way of making those around him laugh. And he was a devoted Detroit Lions fan—always ready to cheer them on, through every victory and every heartbreaking loss.

Above all, Michael loved his family. He treasured the time spent with his wife, daughters, brothers, extended family, and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendships, adventures, and love that will remain with all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary, at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 West University Drive, Rochester, Michigan 48307.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m., in state beginning at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary of the Hills, 2675 John R. Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
