Mihran Dulgerian

Born on November 27, 1924, to Armenian immigrant parents, Hagop and Hasig Dulgerian, survivors of the Armenian genocide. He grew up in Detroit alongside his siblings, Armen (Bertha) Dulgerian and Rose Dulgerian.

Mihran’s educational journey took him to Cass Tech High School, the University of Michigan, Wittenberg College and the University of Detroit, where he earned a degree in marketing. His commitment to service led him to become a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force. He completed officer training at Wittenberg College in Ohio, basic training in Miami, Florida, and flight school in San Antonio, Texas. As a navigator on the B-24 Liberator, Mihran served as a World War II veteran and later continued his service in the reserves.

On March 20, 1954, Mihran married Marilyn Joyce Green, and they shared a loving marriage for 70 years. Together, they built a home in Lathrup Village, where they resided for 50 years before moving to Rochester Hills. Mihran was a proud father to three children: James (Amy), Mark, and Laura Ray (Steve), and a grandfather to five grandchildren: Alex Dulgerian, Daniel Dulgerian, Nicole Cox (Alex), Jenna Ray, and Christopher Ray. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Violet and Asher Cox (Nicole).

Mihran was self-employed in the family business, Labelle Appliance, which he operated from various locations, including Highland Park, Detroit, Royal Oak, and eventually from his home in Lathrup Village. Known for his exceptional skills in fixing appliances and just about anything else, Mihran retired at the remarkable age of 95.

A long-time member of the Lathrup Village Lions Club and Lions Club International, Mihran served as president and White Cane Chairman, raising funds for the Leader Dog for the Blind. He demonstrated the value of hard work, integrity, and pride in a job well done, not for monetary gain but for the satisfaction of a task completed with excellence.

Mihran Dulgerian’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, who will cherish the memories of his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to making a difference.

A memorial service will be held at St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Dearborn, MI at a later date.
