

Nancy Elizabeth Martin (Koppal), age 64, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2025 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on December 31st, 1960 in Pontiac, Michigan to Edward and Phyllis (Szejbach) Koppal. Nancy graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1979 and pursued further education at Carnegie Business Institute. Shortly afterward, she moved to Houston, Texas and worked in the medical field. In 1993, she gave birth to her first child, Alex Timothy Martin, and then returned to Michigan to be closer to family. In 1997, she gave birth to her second child, Karen Kelley Martin. Nancy was an active participant in her children’s lives, often proclaiming she was their biggest supporter and fan. She loved nothing more than to rejoice in her children’s accomplishments and share them with everyone.
Nancy pursued her passion for the humane treatment of animals, especially dogs, which led her to managing the Animal Activity Center in Macomb, Michigan and the Animal Hospital of Chesterfield in Chesterfield, Michigan before joining Eclipse Consulting as the office manager for 10+ years.
Nancy will be remembered for her love of life, music, laughter, positivity, and her infectious sense of joy. She loved to spend summers in northern Michigan on Mullett lake. As a passionate advocate for staying active, she spent many hours playing pickleball with her friends at Shepherd’s Gate Church in Shelby Township, and followed her own personal fitness plan in the gym to remain physically fit.
Nancy is survived by her children, Alex Timothy Martin (Janelle) and Karen Kelley Martin. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Pulte, and her brothers, Jim Koppal and Rick Koppal. Her nieces Cori, Kelly, MK, and her nephews Jesse, Bradley, and Curtis and her granddaughter, Millie Martin as well as her dogs, Jellybean and Tilly.
She finally met her soulmate, Brian Dunnigan, who was by her side until she was called home. Nancy's Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 10th at Shepherd's Gate Church in Shelby Township, Michigan. The visitation will begin at 10, followed by her service at 11 and a luncheon at 12.
