Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Lytle and Sara (Harms) Colvin. She graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit and went on to attend Michigan State University, where she earned her degree in Retail in 1954.
Pat met David Disbrow, and the two were married on July 7, 1956. Together they raised three daughters: Sandra Fulton (Robert), Cynthia Disbrow, and Karen Hamelink (Scott M.). She was also a beloved grandmother to Jennifer Fulton (Frank Sanchez) and Sara Fulton, and a proud great-grandmother to Mason Fulton.
Pat continued her education at Wayne State University, earning a Master's degree in Education. Her career reflected her love of learning and helping others. She worked for Hudson's, where she trained retail associates, and later became a teacher in Savanna, Illinois, and in the Detroit Public Schools. She also taught adult literacy, helping others gain confidence and opportunity through education.
Pat had a lifelong love of travel and especially enjoyed visiting Hawaii, Banff and Lake Louise. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie that came with the game. She also had a passion for the theater and produced plays for the Avon Players.
Pat was active in her community as a member of the Rochester Garden Club, where she participated in the Greens Market annually, the Meadowbrook Women's Club, and University Presbyterian Church. She treasured the friendships she made through these organizations and the many activities she enjoyed throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughters Sandra Fulton (Robert), Cynthia Disbrow, and Karen Hamelink (Scott M.), her granddaughthers; Jennifer Fulton (Frank Sanchez) and Sara Fulton, and her great-grandson Mason Fulton.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pat’s life on Friday, October 2, at University Presbyterian Church, 1385 S. Adams Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio.
