Paul James Vermeulen passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Rochester Hills, Michigan in his 57th year. Born May 14, 1968 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Paul is survived by his loving parents, John and Doreen Vermeulen, his brother David (Anita), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Paul spent his early years with his family in Des Moines, Iowa and a short time in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before moving to Rochester Hills as a young teenager. He was active in sports, his Rochester High School golf team winning the state championship in 1986, and was a life long fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. From the age of 24 Paul battled and survived a rare type of brain tumour, but that didn’t prevent him from living a full and active life. He graduated from Hope College and later earned his Master’s of Business Administration from Oakland University. Paul greatly enjoyed attending all of the many family and friend get togethers over the years and maintained many special close relationships. Visitation is from 4 to 6:30 pm at the Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester with a memorial service at 6:30 pm. A second memorial service will be held in Burford, Ontario at a future date with interment at the Pioneer Cemetery there. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
