Reed was born on July 12, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan the son of John and Kathleen (Sadowski) Galvin. Reed graduated from Grosse Pointe North High school, class of 1973. He went on to earn his degree from the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Reed had a passion for food and enjoyed a career as a chef at several establishments including Boyne Mountain, Bayview Inn, Petosky, and Meadowbrook Hall.
Reed loved his hunting dogs, guns, and cars, especially his hot-rod truck. He enjoyed music, listening to his vinyl collection, and attending concerts.
Reed is survived by his dad John Galvin; children Allison (David) Patterson, Brittany (Daryl) Lanzon; and Eoin (Ashleigh) Galvin-Jensen; grandchildren Cavan and Owen Patterson, Averie Lanzon, and Declan Galvin-Jensen; and niece Terra Faulk. Reed was predeceased by his mother Kathleen Galvin.
