Bob’s life was an example of faith lived out daily.
He was born in Bangor, Maine on October 2,1939. His family later moved to Augusta, Maine where he graduated from Cony High School in 1957. That autumn Bob entered Norwich University, a military university, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Chemistry and a commission.
In 1961 he entered the University of New Hampshire, seeking a Doctoral degree in Chemistry. Bob began a habit of church attendance and hearing the richness of God's word, he decided to make Christ the Cornerstone of his life on March 1st, 1962.
Having finished his 3 years of studies at UNH in June of 1964, and without writing his final thesis, Bob knew his vocation was not to be in chemistry. He married his sweetheart, Marsha, and entered Gordon- Conwell Seminary graduating in 1967 with a Masters of Divinity, prepared for the teaching of the Word of God for decades to come.
Bob was soon called to start a church in Rochester Hills Michigan where he served for 42 years.
One great joy he had was teaching with his seminary friend and missionary, Graham Roberts, each fall from 1991-1999 in the Czech Republic…training international students to take the truth of God’s word to the former Communist held Eastern Bloc countries of Europe.
After retiring from pastoring in 2009, Bob accepted the invitation of the Evangelical Institute of Biblical Training in Greenville, S.C to be an adjunct professor. This was a special joy for him for the next 8 years.
Being both an accomplished pianist and singer, Bob used his talents as a blessing to many, and especially to the delight of his family on a daily basis.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Davis; his children Laura (Bill) DeJonge, Joel (Denise) Davis, Zachary (Heather) Davis, and Susanne Davis; and his grandchildren Trent, Meredith, Mia, Davis, Spencer, Ava, and Prescott.
Bob’s work seem paused when he suffered a stroke in 2018, but his acceptance of his situation and by the Lord’s promised strength and help through the following years, he was able to tell family, friends, and helpers countless times, “I love you”, and to receive the words in reply, “I love you too, Bob”.
