Robert Arthur Kaphengst

Robert was born on May 12, 1934 in Pontiac, Michigan to Arthur and Dorthea Kaphengst. Throughout a life marked by dedication, kindness, and integrity, Robert touched the lives of many through unwavering love for family, commitment to friends, and service to the community.

Robert was an Eagle Scout, honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, graduated from Lawrence Technological University, president of the Rochester Lions Club, and a General Motors Engineering Retiree. He co-founded and was president and CEO, of Dimensional Control Systems (DCS). A devoted parent, cherished by his son Michael and admired by all who knew him. He enjoyed anything cars, playing euchre, fishing, flying planes. The final chapter of Robert’s life was honored by the Clarkston, Michigan Adored Living and St. Croix Hospice staffs. Robert generously contributed to the First Baptist Church of Rochester, Michigan. Those fortunate enough to have known Robert will remember his wisdom, steadfast support, and profound since of humor.

Robert is survived by his son, Michael (Theresa) Kaphengst; his granddaughter, Christina (Marcus) Matthews; grandson, Eric Kaphengst, great grandchildren Harrison and Nora Matthews. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor (Marjorie) Kaphengst, his second wife, Virgina Kaphengst and twin brother Ralph L. Kaphengst.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life during visitations on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Followed by a memorial service starting at 12:00 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester, MI 48307. Burial will take place immediately following at White Chapel Cemetery, 621 W. Long Lake Rd, Troy, MI 48098.

Though Robert is no longer with us in person, his legacy of love, compassion, and strength will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
