

SHELTON, Robert Vern, Sr., age 90, of Rochester, died October 17, 2016. Robert was born on July 3, 1926 in Caseville, MI, son of the late Robert & Elizabeth (Deering) Shelton. He was a graduate of Pigeon High School and was a WW II U.S. Army Combat Veteran. Robert retired as a Superintendent from the Oakland County Road Commission in 1984 following 33 years of service. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester where he served as the head usher. He also was a past member of the Rochester American Legion Post, but he most enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Loretta Jean (Hecht), children Roxane Macleod and Robert Shelton and fiancé Stacey Bick, grandchildren Michael (Heather) Macleod, Matthew (Sarah) Macleod, Christine Cruce, Ashley (Micah) Mayhew, Rachel Shelton, Robert Shelton III, and David Shelton and 7 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Margaret Clara, Deloris Scribner, Marlene Keinath and a brother, Ronald Shelton. In addition, to his parents and a great grandchild, Robert was preceded in death by a brother James Shelton. Funeral Service will be held 11 am Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester. Rev. Marc Schwichtenberg officiating. Interment & Military Honors to follow at Mt. Avon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 5 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
