Rose was born the daughter of John and Anna (Hrynda) Lanick in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 7th, 1943. Rose graduated from high school and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend Oral Roberts University. She met Gordon Kent Stiles and they received their bachelor degrees in the first graduating class of Oral Roberts. Rose and Kent married on December 28th, 1968. Rose went on to earn her master’s degree in English from the University of Tulsa. She and Kent moved to Sudbury, Canada, later to East Lansing, and eventually settled in Rochester, Michigan where they have raised their family since the late 1980’s. Rose was passionate about home schooling and was a pioneer in this new way of education, teaching her children from middle school through high school. Rose loved her family and the fellowship of those she knew at her church. Despite significant challenges to her health, she lived with grace. Prayer, bible study, and worshipping were habits that brought her joy.
Rose is survived by her husband Gordon Kent Stiles; sons David (Laura) Stiles and Andrew (Lorraine) Stiles; grandchildren Victor, Dominic, Grant, Clarissa, and Arianna Stiles. Rose was predeceased by her parents; four sisters, and one brother.
