Rosemary Merrill Paine

PAINE, MERRILL, age 89, of Leonard, formerly of Rochester and Waterford, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Merrill was born on April 11, 1926 in Detroit, daughter of the late George and Rosina Ervine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Paine in 2000 and sister, Isabelle Jackson. Merrill is survived by her children Kathleen (the late Terry) Zeeman, Thomas (Paula) Paine, David (Sarah) Paine and Julie (Richard) Barnes. Also survived by grandchildren Cassandra (Eli) Berant, Jessica (Nick) Wells, Gregory (Katie) Paine, Richard Barnes II, Lauren Barnes, and great grandchildren Rhys and Kye Berant. A Rochester resident from 1950 to 2000, she was a member of the Rochester Cotillion, was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and sold Real Estate for Century 21. She was also a member of the Waterford Historical Society, the Golden Ages Group, and volunteered at POH in the gift shop. Merrill accepted life as it came and was a happy person. She loved the symphony, traveling, decorating, floral arranging and shopping. For years she taught horseback riding to children and adults. She loved her family tremendously and enjoyed spending time with them, especially the annual Thanksgiving breakfast and Christmas Tree Trimming Party. Merrill lived a full and colorful life. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 19, 2015, 5 p.m. at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 West University Drive, Rochester. Pastor Mary Fredericks officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Inturnment at VanHoosen Jones-Stoney Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Seasons Hospice or the Arthritis Foundation.
